Renault driver, Vitaly Petrov feels his condition has gradually recovered after the accident at the Monaco GP last weekend. So confident he will be able to perform at the Canadian GP.
Petrov escaped serious injury when an accident involving Lewis Hamilton and James Alguresuari on the 69th. Russian racer car had hit guardrail and forcing the safety car came out.
Canadian Grand Prix will still be held two weeks away, precisely on June 12. That way, Petrov still has enough time to recover his health condition.
"I'm fine. My legs still feel sore, but should be fit to race in Canada," please Petrov on Renault's official website quoted by Sky Sports.
"I can not get out of the car because his legs are all oppressed. And I could not feel my feet. So I thought 'I seem to be in trouble', because it looks a broken leg or something. I was in the car, waiting for people to help me out of the car, "he continued.
"At the hospital they did a thorough examination and analysis and I seemed fine. I just need a little break and we'll see what happens,"said Petrov.
Complaining of back pain, Petrov was taken to hospital for scans where it was revealed that he had not suffered any serious injuries.
The Russian is confident that his ankle, which took a knock in the shunt, will be "fine" in time for next weekend's Canadian GP.
"Physically I'm feeling fine with no problems. I'm feeling better than I was after the race in Monaco," he said. "My ankle is fine and I don't see any problems for the race here in Canada."
As for his goals for next Sunday's grand prix, Petrov is eager to get back into the points, having failed to score in the last two races.
"Above all, we must get to the finish line and score some good points because we know we can do it. We are well aware that our car is very quick so we need to minimise our mistakes and the results will come."
