Flavio Briatore gave compliments to Fernando Alonso. According to him, the Spaniard is one of a number of great rider in the race "pole", even better than the legendary German driver, Michael Schumacher.
In his capacity as team boss at Renault, Briatore played a role, bringing two world title to Alonso in 2005 and 2006 seasons. At that time, he already holds a managerial position for the rider, who has defended Ferrari.
Since already very familiar with the talents and abilities of Alonso, Briatore dare to make a statement that former McLaren racer is among the best in the universe.
"Alonso is a special person, not just because he's a great rider, but because he is a normal, very simple, very sincere," said Briatore told Onda Cero.
"He was a big rider, parallel with Senna, Prost and Schumacher. In the last 20 years, we've seen some phenomenal rider and Fernando was one of them."
When talking about the comparison of Alonso and Schumacher, who is a "two very different riders," Briatore believes Alonso has one side that is better than the seven-time world champion.
"Fernando a little better because when Michael depressed, he slumped. Meanwhile, in the same situation, Fernando concentration was even more powerful," explained the 61-year-old man.
Briatore believes, if Alonso is getting a good machine, then he can beat Schumacher fantastic record.
"I hope so because Fernando deserves to be the best rider in the history of F1. He had decided to stay at Ferrari until the end of his career and hopefully can give it a Ferrari car that can win many victories compared to Schumacher," said Briatore.
