Renault Chassis Being Removed

Renault team was forced to dispose of the car chassis of Nick Heidfeld which are burned on the F1 series of Hungary. Although Heidfeld escaped safely, the chassis of his car was heavily damaged and unusable.

"The incident was highly undesirable and causes the chassis that we have to throw away. We must take priority measures to reduce the possibility of similar fires and ensure the airway does not become too hot," said James Allison, Technical Director of Renault team.

Renault gives a full account of the incident to the FIA. Renault also describes measures to prevent it happening again.

Based on the results of the investigation, the explosion that followed the fire was caused by air bottle in the car.

"The fire caused by a bottle of air that supplies air into the engine. That part is too hot in the fire and burned," said Allison
