Turkish GP Ask For Negotiation

Turkish Grand Prix officials are holding talks with F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone that officials can still hold a F1 car races in 2012, Tuesday (08/09/2011). Previously, Ecclestone said F1 Turkish series will be eliminated from the race calendar 2012.

F1 contract with Turkey will be finish in 2011. On the other hand, Texas F1 series will be added in the list of races next year and many teams simply want a 20 series in a season. Thus, there will be a series that should be abolished and Turkey become a major option for removal.

This situation increases the pressure on the Istanbul Park circuit owner to find a solution when Turkey abolished the F1 series. Moreover, this circuit including the rarely used.

Amid all the uncertainty, Director of Department of SMEs in the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, said Ferruh Gundogan, Turkey remains the F1 series is expected to be held in 2012.

"Of course we expect the Turkish F1 series can still be held in 2012, but it depends on the outcome of negotiations. Elimination of Turkey series have not been announced officially. Negotiations between Turkey and the sports ministry FOA still lasts," said Gundogan, in Istanbul.

As chairman of institutional investors, Gundogan trying to inform the Turkish government and the public about the importance of F1 in Turkey. Gundogan also share an alternative to increasing the volume of advertising from F1, as an incentive to smooth the negotiations.
